Skins.
In XP, when you have ClearType turned on, most ICQ Plus 3 skins have fonts which are completely blurred - exceptions I have noticed to this are Lunar Base and Razor Art's ICQ Plus skins (there are 2 versions of Razor Art's ICQ Plus 3 skin around - 1 is blurry, the other, newer one is not).

My hats go off to those skinners who have fixed this issue already and I implore those who have not to take a look at their skins in XP with ClearType turned on.

Oooh...what AM I to do? I am in neither list....

Is that supposed to be sarcastic?

Probably, knowing Jafo .

Call it subtle indignation that I'm omitted...

However, it is a 'little' assertive of you to 'implore' people to alter their skins so, particularly when they may not in fact have XP on which to test the Clear Type.

Not to mention that 'seem to need work' is a soft-core barb aimed at the competence of the skinner.

There are better ways than this to 'ask' for assistance...

I made DeviantQ, but how I am gonna fix it? I use W2k. If you would like to purchase a copy of XP for me........then we can talk.

Mea culpa.

I made the mistake of guessing that if I HAD MADE an ICQ Plus skin which had a flaw that made it unusable by a large group of people that someone would let me know about it.

BTW - "softcore barb aimed at the competence of the skinner" is load of hogwash. Rereleases of skins come out all the time to fix minor bugs which are reported to the people who made the skins.

If you take offense because I didn't email each skin author individually, tough. I don't have that much time and I thought the skinning community was about making revisions to skins to get bugs worked out, not slamming people who bring up the bugs.

To those skinners who do not have XP to test on ->

If a skinner needs a copy of XP I would be GLAD to provide a full version of XP Pro and Office XP.

Ash...
I shall attempt to put this a little more clearly for you.
First and foremost....
If a skin author has released a skin which fails to work correctly on a certain OS then it is reasonable to expect that they, in fact, do NOT have access to that same OS in order to test/correct their work.
It is all very well for users to ask for amendments, bug-fixes, but PLEASE, try to remember that these skinners are doing this for enjoyment and the enjoyment of others. They are NOT obliged to jump to each and every beck-and-call to solve an individual's misgivings with their skins.
I'm sure, for example, that my ICQ skin will be screwy in Clear Type, because it was not created in the XP OS.
I also run LiteSTEP as a default shell, which can do odd things to other settings at times.
Looking at the list of names of skins which 'fail' the Clear Type test and knowing them and who made them, I can safely say that mostly, these guys didn't/don't have XP.

Secondly, if you are offering legal legitimate XP programs to all and sundry that is quite generous of you, and I'd love to have one....XP Pro is about AUS $400 so is quite a 'gift'.
If, however, you are offering the XP OS as a pirated copy on Wincustomize.com then I'd suggest that you may like to retract the offer, as it is against our site policy to promote/advertise warez, and will have you banned from the site.

I don't have XP (would love to play with cleartype) but I did find that several of the newer skins were unreadable to me (I'm running Win2k).

I went into the Plus editor and turned off the shadows and in one case had to specify italic and a different font to get it all fixed.

After getting the fonts to display right I was able to turn off italic and the regular font worked... you might give this a try.
